Does Splendid Spoon taste good?
The food was good, but not great. It may have been better when it was fresh, but Splendid Spoon foods are frozen before they are shipped. The consistency of foods is just not the same after being frozen. If you’re looking for delicious heat-and-eat meals, I recommend Factor.
How long does it take to prepare a Splendid Spoon meal?
Since the food is already cooked, you just need to reheat it in the microwave. Most of the meals just take a few minutes to heat up.
Does Splendid Spoon save you time?
Splendid Spoon can definitely save you time. You eliminate the planning, prepping and cooking completely. You just need to take the plastic film off and reheat it in the microwave.
Is Splendid Spoon easy?
It doesn’t get any easier than just reheating in the microwave. The smoothies are time-savers too because they are already completely prepared. You can just grab one and drink it as you head off to work in the morning.

Shipping costs $12.99 for the 7-item plan and is completely free if you buy 14 items or more. They ship via overnight courier such as FedEx.

What packaging does Splendid Spoon use?
The packaging is more environmentally friendly than most of the other meal kit programs. They use recyclable materials and dry ice enclosed in plastic to keep the food cold.
Can I recycle Splendid Spoon packaging?
The box and insulation are curbside recyclable. The dry ice block is enclosed in a plastic bag which can be recycled in any retailer that accepts plastic bags and wraps (or curbside recyclable in some locations). The dry ice itself will melt if you just leave it in your kitchen sink. Be careful not to touch it while it’s frozen.
The meals are in #1 plastic trays with plastic film covers and enclosed in a cardboard box. The soups are in #5 plastic containers and also have a plastic film cover. The smoothies are in #1 plastic bottles.
Does Splendid Spoon have dietary options?
All of the meals are vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free. When you select meals, you can also filter by certain dietary needs (such as higher protein or lower fat), avoidances (allergies), nutritional benefits that you are seeking, and taste and texture options.
Can you lose weight with Splendid Spoon?
The focus of Splendid Spoon is on healthy eating (whole grains, protein, more veggies, etc.). It’s not designed as a weight loss program, but you may lose weight as a result of eating healthier. Is Splendid Spoon healthy?
Splendid Spoon partners with nutritionists to make sure their foods are healthy. All their foods are vegan and use whole ingredients as much as possible. Many of their ingredients are organic, and they never use GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms). The only thing they use to sweeten their foods is fruit and coconut nectar.
How do you order from Splendid Spoon?
Ordering from Splendid Spoon is easy! You select your weekly box size (7, 14 or 21 items) and any food restrictions (allergies or preferences). You can let the system automatically select foods based on your preferences or change their selections to your own. Finally, you enter your payment and shipping information, and you’re done!
How much is Splendid Spoon?
The cost depends on how many and what type of items you order. When I ordered meals were $13.49, bowls (soups, stews, grain and rice bowls) were $12.49, and smoothies were $9.99. That is not cheap!
Does Splendid Spoon save you money?
While it could save you money if the alternative is eating out, Splendid Spoon is a rather expensive program compared to others. Of course, you need to consider what you are getting. While there are cheaper programs, Splendid Spoon is very healthy. It may be worth it to you to know that you’re eating healthy without having to put any effort into planning, prep and cooking.
Pros
- Very healthy – All of the foods are vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free. They include whole grains and veggies, and many of their ingredients are organic.
- No cooking – You just heat the food up in the microwave and enjoy!
- Recyclable materials – They use recyclable materials as well as dry ice instead of a gel ice pack like other companies use.
- Microwave safe containers – You can microwave the food right in the container.
- Marketplace – They offer a subscription-free option called the Marketplace if you just want to order the foods you want without the weekly commitment. The minimum order is $95 with free shipping on orders of $150 or more.
Cons
- Frozen food – I was very disappointed that the foods were frozen, not fresh. The taste and consistency of frozen foods is not as good as fresh.
- Expensive – The foods were more expensive than most meal kit programs.
- No app – Unlike other meal kit programs, they don’t have an app.
